Lip Blushing in Austin: Cost, Healing & Results
A soft lip tint, a more defined border, and realistic expectations about the appointment and healing.
November 4, 2026 · Body Tonic RX

If your lips have uneven color or a border that has become less defined, you may not need more volume. Lip blushing addresses color and definition with a soft, custom-blended tint. It is a different treatment from lip filler, and knowing that difference helps you choose the right starting point.
At Body Tonic RX, permanent makeup is performed by Agata Soldato, our founder and master artist, at our Bee Cave location only. We welcome clients from Austin, Westlake Hills, Lakeway, and the surrounding Hill Country.
What is lip blushing?
Lip blushing is cosmetic tattooing that places pigment into the lips to create a wash of color. The shade is selected with your natural lip color and the look you want in mind. The goal is a tint that complements your lips, rather than a heavy lipstick effect.
It may suit people with pale or uneven lip color, a faded lip border, or a preference for a natural tint without applying lipstick every day. It does not suit every concern, and a consultation comes before treatment.
Lip blushing vs. lip filler
Blushing changes the appearance of color and definition. Filler adds volume and can address selected shape or contour concerns. A more visible border can make lips look fuller, but pigment does not physically increase their size.
If you are unsure which concern you want to address, start with an assessment rather than choosing a procedure from a photo. Our article on alternatives to more filler explains why color, texture, and volume need different approaches.
How much does lip blushing cost in Austin?
Body Tonic RX does not list a fixed lip blushing price on the website. Contact our team for current pricing and a consultation with Agata. Existing pigment or corrective work may require a different plan from a first treatment.
Before booking, ask what the quote includes:
- The initial lip blushing appointment.
- Whether a perfecting session is included or charged separately.
- The timing and cost of future color-refresh appointments.
- Any additional assessment needed for previous permanent makeup.
A clear quote should reflect the work you need. Do not assume another studio’s package or touch-up policy applies to your appointment here.
What happens at the appointment?
The process starts with a conversation about your goals, natural lip color, medical history, and any previous lip treatments. Bring questions about the shade and border you want. Agata will assess whether that result is realistic before choosing a plan.
Our permanent makeup appointments use topical numbing before and during the procedure. Numbing can help with comfort, but it does not guarantee a pain-free experience. Most permanent makeup services involve an initial appointment followed by a perfecting session after healing. Confirm the plan for your lips at your consultation.
Lip blushing healing: what to expect
The color you see immediately after treatment is not the finished result. Fresh pigment can look stronger, and swelling can temporarily change how the lips appear. Dryness, flaking, and uneven-looking color can occur as the surface heals.
Our general permanent makeup guidance is about a week of visible healing, with the true color settling over four to six weeks. These are planning estimates, not deadlines. Your lips, skin, treatment history, and aftercare can affect the timeline.
- Early healing: expect the appearance to change rather than judging the shade right away.
- Surface healing: let flakes come away on their own. Picking can interfere with healing and pigment retention.
- Color settling: wait until the recommended follow-up before deciding whether an area needs more pigment.
Follow the written aftercare instructions you receive, including guidance about cleansing, approved products, makeup, swimming, and sun exposure. Do not substitute a social-media routine or another artist’s instructions for your own plan.
Cold sores and other safety questions
Tell your artist if you have ever had cold sores, even if you have not had one recently. Lip procedures can trigger an outbreak in susceptible people. Ask your licensed medical provider whether preventive prescription treatment is appropriate; do not start medication on your own.
Share allergies, medications, skin conditions, previous cosmetic tattooing, and any history of unusual healing. Do not stop prescribed medication to prepare for treatment without speaking with the prescriber. An active cold sore, infection, or irritated lip needs assessment before an appointment can proceed.
Cosmetic tattooing carries risks, including infection, allergic reactions, scarring, and unwanted color or shape. If redness, pain, or swelling is worsening, or you notice pus or fever, contact a healthcare provider promptly. Seek urgent care for trouble breathing or severe swelling.
What do healed results look like?
The intended result is a softer tint and more even-looking definition that still looks like your lips. Your starting color affects the outcome, and a shade shown in someone else’s healed photo may not heal the same way on you.
Lip blushing does not erase all asymmetry, replace filler, or guarantee that you will never want lipstick again. Some clients still use makeup for a stronger color on occasion. Discuss a realistic shade and border rather than expecting a permanent copy of a filtered image.
How long does lip blushing last?
Permanent makeup fades gradually. Our general guidance for cosmetic permanent makeup is one to three years before the color softens, with lip color often fading sooner than brows or eyeliner. That range is not a promise for every lip blushing treatment.
Skin characteristics, sun exposure, skincare, and pigment retention can affect how the color ages. Ask Agata when to reassess your result and whether a refresh is appropriate. Fading also does not mean the pigment is guaranteed to disappear completely.
Can old lip tattooing be corrected?
Previous pigment needs an assessment before new color is added. Bring clear photos and details about when and where the work was done. Some permanent makeup can be corrected, while other cases need removal or a different plan first. Do not assume a new layer of pigment can cover every unwanted shade or shape.

Frequently asked questions
Does lip blushing make lips bigger?
No. It adds pigment, not volume. Better color and definition can create a fuller-looking appearance, but it is not a substitute for filler when volume is the concern.
When can I judge my final color?
Give the lips time to heal and the pigment time to settle. Our general permanent makeup guidance is four to six weeks for true color settling. Follow the timing recommended for your treatment.
Is a touch-up always needed?
Most permanent makeup services involve a perfecting session after healing. Ask what your plan includes, when to return, and whether that visit is included in the quote.
Where is lip blushing available at Body Tonic RX?
