FAQ

Frequently asked.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel resurfaces the skin with a medical-grade acid solution. It improves tone, texture, and clarity with minimal downtime.

Which peel does Body Tonic RX offer?

VI Peel, a medical-grade chemical peel. It is available with Xana Hartt at our Bee Cave location.

How should I prepare?

Stop retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and prescription actives 3 to 5 days before. No waxing, threading, or depilatories in the area for 5 to 7 days. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for a week, and tell us about every medication you take, especially isotretinoin (Accutane) within 6 months, hydroquinone, and antibiotics.

What happens after the peel?

Use a gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid, and a bland moisturizer for 5 to 7 days. Wear mineral SPF 30+ every day. Flaking and peeling on days 2 to 5 is normal, so let it slough naturally.

What should I avoid afterward?

No picking, peeling, or pulling flaking skin. No retinol, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, or scrubs for 5 to 7 days. No exercise or sweating for 24 hours, and no sauna, steam, or hot showers for 48 hours. Avoid sun for a week and keep SPF on for 4 weeks. Wait 1 to 2 weeks before other facial treatments or injectables.

Is there downtime?

VI Peel is designed for minimal downtime. Expect flaking and peeling on days 2 to 5, and plan on 5 to 7 days of aftercare.

Who should not get a peel?

Skip a peel if you have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) within 6 months, have an active cold sore or skin infection, or have a recent sunburn or a compromised skin barrier.

How much does it cost?

VI Peels are currently 15% off with Xana Hartt. Contact us for pricing and availability.

Can I combine a peel with other treatments?

HydraFacial and SKNLab work well as prep and maintenance around a peel. Keep other facial treatments and injectables 1 to 2 weeks apart.
